| Various
techniques of needlework |
||
| The Complete Encyclopedia of Needlework The first printing of this book must be around 1884 and is still published by its famous French brandname : DMC. Therese de Dillmont helps us to understand how the various stitches are formed. It is a best seller since 1900's specially as it has been translated in around ten languages. Different topics are covered : embroidery on white, linen embroidery, gold embroidery, appliqué work, knitting, crochet, tatting, macramé, netting, openwork on linen, embroidered laces, needle-made laces, pillow laces, needlework trimmings, tapestry, embroidery upon silk and velvet, mending, plain sewing. A mine of informations at a very interesting price because of its millions and millions of copies ! I just regret the design of the latest printings and prefer the original one. Another bedside's book for novices and specialists as well. Original title in French : "L'encyclopédie des ouvrages de dames " |
